Clay, The Mother of Skincare

Mixing up a “spa-grade facial mask” goes waaayyy back (a couple of millennia back, in fact).
On the Greek island of Lemnos, healers pressed mineral Clay into seal-stamped tablets called terra sigillata, or "sealed earth." Pliny the Elder cataloged these prized earths in the first century AD, and Clay remains in the medical record after nearly two thousand years.
1st c. AD: Pliny records the prized cleansing earths of antiquity.
1848: Sealed-earth Clay still listed in a working pharmacopeia.
2010s to today: Modern lab analysis proves real antibacterial activity in Clay, including Rhassoul, Bentonite, Kaolin, and Illite.
Four Earths, One Mask
Rhassoul, Kaolin, Calcium Bentonite, and Illite: four therapeutic Clays handpicked from around the world. Combined with other natural powerhouses like 4-hour Grass-fed Collostrum for clear, youthful, radiant skin.
How Clay Forms
Clay is the product of decades, if not centuries, of errosion. Acidic rainwater breaks down feldspar (the most common mineral in the Earth's crust, and the main ingredient in granite), leaving fine, layered minerals behind.
Each particle is smaller than two-thousandths of a millimeter, giving it a vast charged surface that lets Clay draw out oil, dirt, and impurities.
Moroccan Rhassoul · The Cleansing Heart
Stevensite · magnesium-rich · "the washing Clay"
This geological rarity formed as the Atlas Mountains rose, and can only be mined from a single Moroccan valley. Used since the 8th century in hammam rituals, its name means "to wash."
Lifts oil and impurities while staying gentle, without stripping the skin's moisture barrier.
Canadian Kaolin · The Gentle Backbone
Kaolinite · soft, non-swelling
The calmest of the four, named for the Chinese hill mined for porcelain, and recorded by Pliny in antiquity as a fine cleansing earth.
Absorbs without aggression, keeping the deeper Clays in check for sensitive skin.
Nevada Green Desert Clay · The Deep Draw
Calcium Bentonite · volcanic-ash born
Once volcanic ash, altered into Clay over geological time. Used as a natural soap long before it was named in 1898.
Carries the highest surface charge of the group, making it the most powerful at clearing congested, blemish-prone skin.
French Illite · The Refiner
French Green Clay · iron-rich, non-swelling
Iron gives it its signature green, and locked potassium layers keep it gentle.
Mineral-rich and balancing, it refines texture and minimizes the appearance of pores without aggression.
