New Year’s Resolutions and Healthy Living

Welcome to the New Year! We’re nearly two weeks in and now is the time to revisit our goals. If you’ve set some New Year’s Resolutions you’re either well on your way, or the doubt is starting to keep in. If you’re not sure how to achieve your goals or have failed previously in the past, no worries, we have some fool-proof advice to help you achieve your goals with effortless effort. The truth is, there are simple reasons we achieve our goals or not. The real differences between between successful and unsuccessful people is: Successful people have clear intentions. Successful people set goals and purposes. Successful people understand cycles of action. Successful people make step-by-step plans. Successful people make decisions and stick to them. If you want to achieve your goals this Year, then consider the following simple steps.
  1. Get Clear: Opportunities arise when intentions are clear, if you want to get to where you want to be, you have to be clear on where you are going. Intention is the first step to setting any goal – it is the command factor. If you intend something to happen, if only happens if you intend it to happen, that simple. Words are not intentions, the intention is what carries the words and thoughts into manifestation. The best way to clear your intentions is to know who you want to become, in the process of having what you desire. For example, you can’t just want to have a healthy body, you have to want to become a healthy being. Intention is everything in achieving a goal – if you’re struggling to achieve a goal, get clear with your intentions; find out why you want what you want.
  2. Know your Purpose: Purpose is the intent and direction you are heading in life. Goals are desired outcomes; goals are prime intentions. Nietzsche said, “with a strong enough why, you can overcome almost any how.” In other words, having purpose gives you leverage to achieve your goals. Once you’ve gotten clear with your intention, you want to get clear enough with your purpose – the prime reason for achieving your goals. For this step, you can forget about how you will achieve your goal, and get clear on who you want to be, what you want to do in life and what you want to have.
  3. Follow a Cycle of Action: Once you are clear with your intention and desired outcome, you’ll want to understand how cycles of action work. The basic formula for a cycle of action is: BE, DO, HAVE or START, CONTINUE, COMPLETE. This is very important for achieving goals; first, we must be able to see the end results in our own minds, which is what we do by setting intentions and seeing our goal or desired outcome. However, after we know what we want to have, we must must follow a cycle of action. Let’s say you want to have a healthy body, then you will have to be a healthy person and do healthy things. It’s simple, as all good things are.
  4. Make a Step-by-Step Plan: The next step is to create gradient steps towards achieving your goals. If you want a healthy body, what will you have to do each day to get there? The secret here is to set winnable goals and break your goals into bite-sized pieces. Having too big of a gradient in your goals could lead to failure. So set your final goals into a step-by-step actions and complete each one of those by following the same cycle of start, continue, complete.
  5. Commit: If you’ve gotten clear with your intentions, then commitment should not be an issue. However, if this is not the case, then you can build your commitment muscle through discipline and practice. A sure fire way to build commitment is to make a promise and have someone hold your accountable – get a goals buddy. You can also invest time and money; people are less likely to let go of something they’ve invested into. Taking action builds commitment, so immediately start your cycle of action so it is in progress, this way you are more compelled to complete it. And at the very least, write your goals down and keep a daily journal where you mark off completed steps towards your ultimate goal.
In addition to these basic laws of success, we at Alitura have observed and experienced that successful people have something else in common, their health. If your body is not balanced – you have low energy, are fatigued, experienced hormonal fluctuations and skin problems – it is likely your body demands a lot of your attention. When your body is balanced, energized and you are looking and feeling great, you have a lot of free attention to put into your goals and other areas of life. Taking Control of Your Body Mastering your physical health is simpler and more fun than it is made out to be. Controlling your body doesn’t sound fun, but that is only because the word control has a negative connotation. However, control is a beautiful thing, we learn to control our finances, cars, emotions, etc. and we end up with happier lives. So there is such a thing as good control and bad control. The first step to taking control of your body in a healthy way is by changing the way you see control. Control works interconnected with responsibility and knowledge; the more we know about our bodies and the more responsibility we become with our physical health, the easier and better we can control our bodies.
  • Get Knowledge: It’s true that knowledge is power. We recommend getting in touch with your body by learning about it and acquiring knowledge. You could study Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, or other forms of holistic nutrition. We recommend reading books like The Bulletproof Diet by Dave Asprey, How to Eat, Move and Be Healthy by Paul Chek, and Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Weston A. Price.
  • Move Daily: Our bodies are designed to move, and the saying is true “move it or lose it!” If you want to be optimally healthy, there is no way around it, we need to move our bodies, they crave and love natural movement. We call it movement rather than exercise because you don’t have to beat your body up to be healthy. Walking, dancing, playing sports, and even mixing up some Alitura Clay Masks are all going to promote circulation, oxygenation, and a healthier cardiovascular system. Find your favorite way to move and do it daily!
  • Hydrate: Water facilitates thousands of metabolic functions; it aids the body in digestion, promotes cellular detoxification, stimulates the production of collagen and keeps your skin looking youthful and radiant. We recommend striving for 3 liters of pure spring water a day; however, your intake may vary depending on activity levels. Adding a pinch of Celtic Sea Salt to water helps enhance bio-availability and optimal hydration by balancing electrolytes.
  • Go Bulletproof: We say go Bulletproof rather than organic because a Bulletproof lifestyle goes beyond organic, dissecting possibly mold toxicity even in otherwise, healthy, organic food. A Bulletproof Diet focuses on more than nutrients and ensures optimal digestion, hormone health, and microflora balance. Adopting this style of eating has a place for every body type, as it places prime importance on foods with the lowest possible levels of toxicity, with the most nutrients, and promotes the consumption of foods grown in healthier soils on organic, local farms. It also promotes intermittent fasting, which enhances cognitive health, metabolic efficiency, and cellular detoxification.
  • Care for Your Skin: Your skin is your largest organ, without healthy skin we couldn’t properly absorb vitamin D3, a hormone-like nutrient that builds immunity and balances our hormone function, especially supporting thyroid function. Healthy skin is a sign of great health – Chinese Medicine Practitioners refer to the skin as the ‘outer liver’, and suggests that healthy skin is a result of a healthy liver, which is our most important organ in the body. We at Alitura recommend Holistic Skin Care, which includes supporting the external canvas with nutrient-dense clays, medicinal and therapeutic moisturizers while taking great care of our internal organs with high-quality nutrition, medicinal mushrooms and tonic herbs, by regularly taking our Revitalize formula.
We wish you the best 2017 and that you’ve found these tips helpful. Here’s to a happier and healthier New You.
